I've heard a lot of hype surrounding Dose of Colors (I keep wanting to type Colours) so I decided to try them out for myself.
First stop being their own website and looking through the 16 available shades, I did notice that they don't particular have a wide range of and most of the said shades are from similar colour families. The lipsticks on their own website retail for $18 or £14.82 so taking this into consideration I looked for an alternative option, I bought the three shades I purchased from Beauty Bay as they each cost £14.50 and you receive free shipping (in the UK at least) if your order is over £15 which is a bonus. So I can't comment too much on ordering from DoC directly but every time I have used Beauty Bay I have received by product in 3-5 days (So a working week basically).
The boxes themselves were simple which I liked stating the company, the colour and what the product was along with a 'swatch' of the colour inside, excuse the boxes looking a little disheveled. I have to have short nails for work which is great but when you want to open any boxes just forget about it.
Top to Bottom | Truffle. Berry Me 2 and Mood
The tubes are made out of either a lightweight glass or a heavy duty plastic, I couldn't quite work out what it was, the overall packaging is pretty simple. I hate the silver bands though I don't think it fits in with the whole matte theme.
One of my favourite make up tools is a doe foot applicator, they curve so well to the contours of the lip and make applying lip products so much easier. This doe foot is a little longer than other's I've seen which is nice also the wand is a reasonable length and it's essentially the length of the tube. Most wands are often cut off halfway down the tube making the product really hard to get out.
Top to Bottom | Truffle, Berry Me 2 and Mood
As you can see from the swatches, Mood does not swatch well at all it was also the one that took the longest to dry at roughly 3 minutes which can be a good as it gives you time to perfect your lip line which is something I prefer especially for a darker lip.
Mood
Excuse my terrible skin, so this is what Mood looked like on the lips, definitely not the colour that I was expecting but similar to the swatch. It applied well and took very little time to dry and layered well.
Rating | 5/5 definitely my favourite
Berry Me 2
Excuse my terrible skin once again, BM2 applied beautifully, I did find that the second layer crumbled slightly on the inner lips. It was so hard to get off though like painfully hard, In the end, I had to use my lip scrub...ouch!
Rating | 2/5
Truffle
Truffle took the longest to dry on the lips which is not a good thing, it was also stuck in the corners of the lips even after 'drying' overall not my favourite
Rating 1/5
Overall I wasn't particularly impressed with the Dose of Color Matte Liquid Lipsticks due to the poor performance of the formulas so I doubt I will be repurchasing from this brand in a hurry. Please remember that this is purely my opinion and these might work for you but they didn't for me.
